Bombslinger Beta July 1st 2016

Hi! Thank you all for your super useful feedback! We just pushed a new build to Steam, it should update automagically :mrgreen:

Change log

Features and added stuff
  • Added a controls setting screen
  • "Got it" text on the control settings menu
  • Now there should be a soft block safe zone on each room entry to protect the Bombslinger from enemies. Blocks are placed so that a bomb can always be placed safely. This will cause some non-game-breaking bugs in some rooms, like enemies on soft block tiles. We still need to update all the rooms to account for the change.
  • Main menu supports any key press to move forward now
  • Added a bunch of new sounds
  • Added quit game confirmation window

Fixes
  • fixed many rooms that had dodgy level design near room entrance
  • fixed some rooms which would not generate destructibles
  • fixed an incorrect boss appearing in desert level 1
  • fixed some room locking when no enemies present etc.
  • Fixed coyote enemy not appearing in desert level and breaking all other enemy spawn processes (this was game-breaking in the desert environment)
  • XboxOne controller always going to the left
  • Textures and sprites in the game should not appear in low rez anymore
  • The spirit bar would wrap back when hitting its max cap
  • Price of the Gold Bonus item
  • Added timer bomb controls to bomb layout picture
  • Bombs can't be dropped anymore when the Boss door opens
  • Goat-type enemies should now charge through bridges correctly
  • The moonshine thrower enemy flame power doesn't mimic Bombslinger's flame power anymore
  • Bullets are now destroyed on bomb and player impact
  • The naked farmer enemy speed would be very low after a failed attempt at following the Bombslinger
  • Flame power of a dropped bomb doesn't increase when picking up a flame power up
  • Blocks and enemies which were exploding when leaving a room now don't create an invisible soft block
  • Walking sound effects still playing when launching a Moonshine bomb
  • Other minor fixes and invisible things

Notes
  • We made some changes to how the sounds are handled and there might be some misplaced sounds playing from time to time
  • The rooms have safe zones now at the entrances but the side effect is that it creates some bugs with the tile system that we use to create the rooms. Please bear with us while we fix the rooms :oops:

I played briefly this morning, here is the feedback so far:

* Selection 'boom' sound in menus is way too loud.
Hurts with headphones on!

* Seeker bomb can't destroy chests or fires while there are still enemies in the level.
Suggest it explodes at least 1 in all directions before seeking.

* Camouflage power up activates (I became a rock) but can't be deactivated!
Were no enemies around, menus don't work anymore, requires ALT+F4.

We're hoping to squash as many bugs as possible before the end of next week!

Don't hesitate to tell us what you think about the game as a whole, what works, what doesn't (mostly what doesn't, but positive things make us cheerful as well :D )
